HISTORY

I was on my way to work on the day that flights were allowed to return to the skies after the cowardly attacks, thinking of some way to honor all those innocent people killed that awful day.   It came to mind about an old worn out flag I had in a closet at home and I knew that I needed to use that flag somehow to show people that America was still proud and free and no cowards could ever change that.

I took the flag to work with me and got permission from my Station manager to carry it on the ramp.   The Flag was attached to a stick I found, the top was painted black to represent the black smoke rising in the sky. Under the flag on the staff, each flight had a section, each person was honored for a day.   At the end of the day I would put a hash mark down and pray for the family.   I held it up not only for American Airlines planes, I held it up for all aircraft that passed the gate I was working on.   I flew it for 247 work days.

On September 8, 2004, my Flag was accepted by the Museum of American History for placement into the 9/11 collection.   This was an extreme honor for me.

I made a vow that I would do everything possible to make sure these people are never forgotten

So that is where The NEVER FORGET Tour derived.
